  A Victim's Decision

I wish Senator Scott Brown could bring himself to name the man who molested him, or help find him.

That would encourage other victims to come forward. And the sick counselor who sexually abused a 10-year-old Brown in a bathroom at a messed-up Cape Cod summer camp surely had other victims. If Brown were to pursue charges, he could protect future victims too — assuming the man is still out there somewhere.

But I don't get to decide how much an abuse victim shares, how far into their painful memories they wade. None of us do. The only person who can — and should — decide that is the victim himself.
