SANDWICH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A man says he warned Camp Good News after he found child pornography on Chuck Devita's computer.

Charles Lewis was a fellow Camp Good News employee with Devita. In 1993 he said a friend walked into the boathouse and saw Devita on the floor with a child.

Four years later, Lewis' fears were confirmed when he found child pornography on Devita's computer. Lewis copied the porn onto a floppy disc and presented it to Camp Director Faith Willard.

"When I gave it to her she started crying."

The next day, Lewis and Willard confronted Devita.

"The only thing she asked him was, 'Chuck are you gay?' And he kind of stumbled and stammered and said that he had thought about it and decided it wasn't for him. And she just seemed satisfied with the answer."

"She said, 'OK, let's pray.' and that was it. There was no formal reprimand. There was no writing up for documentation purposes. She didn't discipline him. Nothing."

Five years later in 2002, Lewis learned that the floppy disc was destroyed.

Devita was still working at Camp Good News up until last week when he shot himself to death as a former camper claimed Devita molested him.

"He was a man. He was a human life. I truly believe if the leadership at the camp had done what they should have done back in 1997, this never had to come to what happened last Wednesday."

Camp Good News released the following statement:

Faith Willard will tell her side of the story in an appropriate forum, rather than addressing these types of allegations in the media.
