THE ALLEGED victims of a former Armidale priest facing sex charges are to present their evidence behind closed doors.

The trial of Peter William Dwyer continues in the NSW District Court in Sydney this week.

Dwyer, 68, has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of sexual misconduct, including indecent assault and having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16.

The charges relate to students who attended St Stanislaus’ College, Bathurst, between 1977 and 1992.

Dwyer was a religious brother in the Vincentian order and taught at the college before becoming its president in 1980.

He was on the St Stanislaus’ staff for 21 years before leaving at the end of 1992, and was later ordained as a priest.

The trial before Judge Deborah Sweeney is expected to continue for another two weeks.
