Holy celebrations were being held all over the Philadelphia area on Friday during a time of crisis for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Suspended priests, lawsuits and allegations of sexual abuse have many asking questions of their religious leaders on a solemn day where the faithful reflect back on the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross and his crucifixion.

But with scandal still hanging over the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Catholics are also still looking for answers from church leaders.

On Thursday Cardinal Justin Rigali made his most public remarks since he placed 29 priests on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Archdiocese into allegations of inappropriate acts and abuse of children. Four other priests have been indicted by a city grand jury

This week a local priest said he had been kept in the dark about priest sexual abuse and called on the Cardinal to come to his church and reach out to Catholics.
