Boonville — A judge granted a continuance on a hearing scheduled for Monday morning on a case involving a former Boonvile priest suspected of sexual abuse.

Gerald Howard’s next hearing is scheduled for June 27 in the 18th Circuit Court of Cooper County.

Cooper County Prosecutor Doug Abele said Friday the sides continue to collect depositions from witnesses across the country, and Howard’s defense attorney requested the continuance for discovery purposes.

Howard, who police arrested in New Jersey, remains at Cooper County Detention Center. He is charged with three three counts of forcible sodomy, three counts of attempted forcible sodomy, and two counts of kidnapping.
