Prakashanand Saraswati, the Hindu spiritual leader who disappeared hours before he was to be sentenced for his conviction on 20 counts of groping two girls who grew up on the ashram he founded southwest of Austin, is the subject of this video posted today on the website of America’s Most Wanted television show.

U.S. Marshals have said they believe that Prakashanand, known to his followers as Shree Swamiji, is hiding out in Mexico and trying to arrange travel to India. Hays County authorities confiscated his passport prior to his March trial. Prosecutors are in the process of trying to collect $11 million in bonds posted following his April 2008 arrest.

The America’s Most Wanted web site also includes this write-up of the case.

Three weeks ago, officials from the 200-acre ashram near Driftwood circulated a letter among members that said the ashram was changing its name from Barsana Dham to Radha Madhav Dham. The move was seen as a re-branding effort following their leader’s conviction and disappearance.
