A former Nova Scotia bishop pleaded guilty Wednesday to importing child pornography.

Raymond Lahey, 70, was arrested on Sept. 15, 2009, after border guards found images of young boys on his laptop when he arrived at the Ottawa airport. He had returned from a trip to the U.K.

"There is no distribution involved in this case," defence lawyer Michael Edelson said.

Lahey resigned from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Antigonish before the charges were made public.

RCMP had searched his residences in Antigonish and Sydney, N.S. They seized three computers, but found nothing improper and didn't lay charges.
