	Teacher Arrested, Accused of Child Molestation By Dan Corcoran WPTV May 6, 2011 http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/region_okeechobee_county/local-teacher-arrested,-accused-of-child-molestation [with video] OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - A middle school teacher has been arrested and is now facing molestation charges. Joel Huddleston, 28, works as a social studies teacher at Yearling Middle School in Okeechobee, a position he has held since 2008. Huddleston is also the head coach for the girls basketball team at Yearling and works as a youth pastor at Buckhead Ridge Christian Church. He was arrested Wednesday after investigators first learned of the accusation. It is unclear where the alleged crime took place or if it involves one of Huddleston's own students. School district officials say Huddleston passed a criminal background check when he was hired as a teacher three years ago. "I am appalled that he is one of her teachers. I want my child out of school right now," says Mary Maxey, who has a daughter in 6th grade student a Yearling. Huddleston is being charged with lewd & lascivious molestation on a child between the ages of 12 and 15 years old. Deputies said Huddleston has denied the charge, but they say they have evidence that proves otherwise. Huddleston has been suspended without pay. WPTV's Marissa Bragg contributed to this report
