Peter Dwyer has been found not guilty of the 10 charges relating to his time as headmaster of St Stanislaus' College in Bathurst.

The former headmaster of a boarding school in country New South Wales has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting four boys.

Peter Dwyer had been charged with 10 offences relating to students at St Stanislaus' College at Bathurst, in the state's central west, between 1977 and 1992.

A District Court jury in Sydney had heard the 68-year-old Order of Australia recipient attacked one boy who complained of being homesick, and another who had been caught drinking alcohol.

The students were aged from 12 to 15 at the time.

The defence argued there were no witnesses to the alleged acts and that evidence could not be corroborated.

The jury has acquitted the former headmaster of all charges.
