A Dominican nun was questioned by police officers yesterday over abuse that allegedly happened around five years ago in Lourdes Home, Ghajnsielem, Gozo.

The Dominican sisters are refusing to comment about the case, and are also keeping mum on whether the nun was brought to Malta.

Judge Victor Caruana Colombo chaired an investigative board in 2008 that had revealed instances of physical and psychological atrocities perpetrated on children who lived in Lourdes House. The bishop of Gozo, Mario Grech, had revealed the report while asking the nuns to carry out all its recommendations.

He had also expressed his sorrow and asked the victims of the abuse for forgiveness.

After the abuse cases were discovered, the Dominican sisters converted Lourdes Home into a home for the elderly. Around 10 children were rehoused to other homes.
