KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph, Robert Finn, has recently come under fire. In two weeks, one priest was arrested for child pornography. Another was removed from Christ the King Parish because of credible reports of alleged sexual misconduct with minors.

On Saturday, a group of 20 frustrated Catholics made their message public. They met at the the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with signs reading, "Finn is a Failure."

Protester Sally Radmacher explained, "We would like to see Bishop Finn resign."

She continued, "He's been way too concerned with protecting the shepherd instead of the sheep."

Though, just across 12th Street, on the south sidewalk, another group of Catholics met in prayer.

Bob Roper helped organize the prayer session. He said, "It's important as Catholics that we are obedient to the bishop. The bishop is a person, of course, but he is also an office of the church."

Roper said they picked specific prayers on Saturday for unity and healing.

Bishop Finn was inside the cathedral during the protest ordaining a number of new deacons.

Bishop Finn has apologized several times for 'not doing enough' to stop the alleged behaviors. However, those words of remorse have fallen on deaf years for some long-time Catholics.

Edith Beverly Hurlbert, a member of Holy Family Parish, explained, "We cannot endanger our children, they are our future generation. They are our future."

However, those who believe in the bishop's abilities argue the battle can only be won through prayer.

Roper said, "The true enemy here, Beth, is not someone in a Roman collar. The true enemy is the one we all fight. It is the evil one."

According to the Diocese website , 58 year old Finn was first ordained in 1979. Then, he served at a number of Missouri churches and schools. He was 'elevated' to the status of bishop in 2005. Finn has been the head of the Diocese of Kansas City - St. Joseph ever since.

Finn published a statement Friday . He has requested it be read at all Diocese of Kansas City - St. Joseph churches on Sunday.
