A Catholic priest has been charged with exposing himself on Caspersen Beach in Sarasota County, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Rev. Bernard Chojnacki, 36, a priest at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Port Charlotte, about 1 p.m. Tuesday exposed himself to an undercover detective who was investigating reports of indecent activities on Caspersen Beach in Englewood.

"Chojnacki grabbed an undercover detective inappropriately, exposed himself and stated his desire to perform a sexual act.," a news release states.

Chojnacki was arrested and charged with exposure of sexual organs and battery. He posted $1,250 bond shortly after being booked into the Sarasota County jail.

Chojnacki, a native of Poland, was ordained in late 2009 and soon after assigned to the Port Charlotte church.
