Update: NewsWorks' Dillon Buckley spoke with Johanna Berrigan of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. Dylan will have the full story later on the appointment of Davila, which Berrigan said "doesn't go deep enough" to address the Catholic church's handling of the abuse claims.

Original report: The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has named a new victim advocate to assist those who say they've been abused by priests.

Leslie Davila has been named the director of the diocese' Office for Child and Youth Protection after serving as a victim assistance director and coordinator with the Philadelphia District Attorney's office since 1999.

"I will be an advocate for adult survivors of sexual abuse, as well as for the children and youth of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia," Davila said in a statement released today by the diocese.

We'll have more for you on this story later today.
