Boonville —

The legal parties in the case of a former Boonville priest suspected of sexually abusing children will request a continuance at a Monday court appearance, the Cooper County Prosecutor said this morning.

The defense for Gerald Howard, who once worked at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, continues to collect depositions from witnesses and the prosecution must still interview two people, prosecutor Doug Abele said.

He said they must travel around the country to collect the depositions and then transcribe them. He expects the next court appearance to be scheduled for July 25.

Howard, who worked at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, faces charges on suspicion of three counts of forcible sodomy, three counts of attempted forcible sodomy and two counts of kidnapping.
