/EINPresswire.com/ American New Post is proud to recognize its founder and publisher, Joseph Fosco, has been nominated for ANP's 2011 Commentator of the Year award. Joseph's tireless efforts in exposing criminal corruption in the Chicagoland area has been extraordinary. Joseph's integrity and credibility as a journalist remained solid even during times when he was repeatedly harassed and threatened for his persistence in covering a powerful and exceedingly ruthless element of society. His effort to expose the seamy underbelly of organized crime and political backroom dealings has not only enlightened us, it has also encouraged others to share their stories. It is primarily through such efforts that the rampant corruption of Cook County might finally be cleaned up.

Joseph Fosco is a proud father and successful publisher of American News Post and a series of publications that began with The Keys To Faith, which was named by semi-retired media mogul Conrad Black. American News Post covers a broad range of current affairs in America, including a specialized concentration in Chicago-based organized crime.

Joseph was raised near the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. His father, Armando Fosco Sr., died of cancer when Joseph was a teenager. The late Mr. Fosco was an Outfit-controlled labor leader in Chicago. After his death, Joseph experienced a very difficult time adjusting. Unfortunately, his hardships as a teenager included problems with the law.

In his early 20s Joseph surrounded himself with a number of Outfit members and associates who were acquaintances of his late father. In an odd way, Joseph felt it was an honor to his late father's memory to walk down the path in life that his father once traveled by associating with these Outfit henchmen. Fortunately, Joseph kept his wits about him and refused to be seduced by the promises of easy money and illicit schemes that are the twin sirens of life as a criminal.

During the early to mid 2000s, Joseph, his mother and grandmother, were financially victimized by his Outfit acquaintances. These shakedowns, which involved conflicts, overlaps and subplots of Machiavellian dimensions too complex to list here, would prove to be a rude awakening. As a result of these betrayals by his supposed friends, Joseph realized a dangerous lapse in judgment had allowed him to fraternize with professional criminals. Since this time, Joseph has worked tirelessly to preserve his dignity and financial independence from these criminals in the face of threats against his life.

In 2003, Joseph turned to Catholicism more than ever for peace and support. Joseph became a parishioner at Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral, which led up to him being offered the prestigious position of stewardship committee member. This exciting opportunity led to several positive experiences, including the birth of his child and friendships with several people, including media mogul Conrad Black. It was Conrad's passion for journalism that began Joseph's pursuit of truth through the written medium.

In the course of professional dealings with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, Joseph quickly discovered horrifying revelations concerning the way pedophile priests were dealt with by Chicago's bishops, especially by Archbishop Francis George. It was this discovery that compelled Joseph to establish the Cardinal Cody Observation Commission, which is designed to give victims in the community an opportunity to come forward with valid complaints against functionaries of the Catholic Church. This gallant effort caused a great deal of backlash, some in the form of harassment directed at Joseph.

In recent years, Joseph filed a civil RICO complaint against The Chicago Outfit, the first such case brought against a mafia crime group in America by an individual. The lawsuit was based on the extortion in which his mother, grandmother and he were victimized. Unfortunately, the court was unable to allow Joseph's lawsuit any significant latitude because of the amount of time it took Joseph to prepare himself for such an extraordinary undertaking. However, Joseph contends that two messages emerged from filing the civil RICO complaint. Now the extortionists know that Joseph will no longer take their abuse and the world has learned that Joseph is no longer an acquaintance of organized crime.

In early 2008, Joseph established the internet news forum known today as American News Post. It was through this avenue that Joseph found a special use for the copious amount of firsthand knowledge he has concerning organized crime in Chicago. American New Post has become a preeminent source of information about the history and machinations of the Chicago Outfit.

While often controversial, Joseph's stories are always accurate. This particular style has garnered thanks and praise from some and ugliness and deceit from others. In fact, Joseph has had to contact law enforcement on a number of occasions because of underhanded, mischievous and criminal activity directed at Joseph because of the topics he covers. Despite this harassment, Joseph continues to soldier on in his journalistic quest for justice.

Joseph is not reluctant to assign his real name to his articles. No matter how badly some of Joseph's critics despise him, he is committed to the many fans who appreciate him. We all expect he will continue his unique style of investigative journalism for many years to come.
