Father Michael Miller was arrested today on five felony counts of risk of injury to a minor and a misdemeanor obscenity charge.

As part of an ongoing investigation, police served a warrant on Miller, 41, pastor of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Kensington.

Miller was processed and released after posting a $150,000 bond, He is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on July 26.

His case was ordered sealed by the court and no additional information is being released at this time.

Miller had been hospitalized since July 4 when he was taken by Life Star helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Mystery has surrounded the circumstances of his illness or injuries, though the Hartford Archdiocese acknowledged recently that Miller was under investigation and that the Franciscan Friars and Archdiocese were cooperating with the investigation.

At Sunday's Mass, Father Robert read a statement to the parishoners.

"We know you are wondering and worrying as we deal with this very difficult situation. He remains under treatment at this time and is not able to have visitors. Out of respect for his privacy and because the law requires that medical information be kept confidential, we cannot comment on his medical condition.

"Please be assured that the Archdiocese of Hartford and the Franciscan Friars are cooperating fully with this investigation," the statement said. "We are trying to be as open as possible with you and will provide additional information when we are able."

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact either Detective Brian Dumais or Detective Sergeant John McCormack at 860-828-7080.
