After several hours of deliberations, the jury has gone home for the day.

Jury begins deliberations

Following closing arguments, the jury began deliberating around 2:50 pm.

Defense rests, no witnesses

Shortly after the prosecution rested in the Bill Casey trial, the defense rested their case without calling any witnesses. Closing arguments will begin around 1 pm, thent he jury will be charged and they will begin deliberating.

Prosecution rests

The state has rested its case in the sexual molestation trial of a former East Tennesse priest.

Warren Tucker claims that Bill Casey molested him when he attended Saint Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport.

Wednesday morning's testimony included members of the Knoxville Archdiocese and the process of learning about the alleged abuse.

Father David Boettner, Episcopal Vicor of the Knoxville Archdiocese and Deacon Sean Smith took the stand. They spoke about a meeting where Casey admitted to sexual acts in 2010, and a written account of the alleged abuse written by Tucker and given to the Archdiocese.

1st day of testimony

The man who says he was molested by an East Tennessee priest as a boy took the stand Tuesday morning.

Warren Tucker claims that Bill Casey sexually molested him when he attended Saint Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport. He said Casey treated him like a surrogate father. Casey is charged with aggravated rape and sexual misconduct in this case. He has pleaded guilty to similar charges with the same victim in North Carolina.

Tucker testified that he grew up in a poor background, and that then Father Casey told him he was special. He said, "I was special, we had a special love together... special love between us."

Tucker said the rapes happened between 1979 and 1980 at

St. Dominic's and in a separate trailer.

He called Casey "a powerful man"

Casey's defense attorney, Rick Spivey, said prior to testimony that after 32 years of waiting, the charges are skeptical.

Jury seated

The jury has been seated. Opening statements will begin Tuesday morning.

Jury selection begins

Jury selection for the second trial of a former East Tennessee priest accused of molesting a boy in the 1970's has begun Monday in Sullivan County.

Bill Casey, 76, was retired but still an active member of the Knoxville Diocese when the allegations became public in 2010.

Warren Tucker, who now lives in Indiana, said Casey molested him as a youth, when Casey was a priest at Saint Dominic's Catholic Church. He said the abuse took place in several locations in East Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Casey is on trial for aggravated rape and sexual misconduct charges in Sullivan County. He has pleaded not guilty.

Casey entered a guilty plea to the charges in McDowell County, North Carolina. He also faces charges in Scott County, Virginia.
