The Justice Minster Alan Shatter says he does not want to wait “weeks or months” for the Vatican’s response to the Cloyne report.

The Government formally requested answers from the Vatican following a meeting with the Papal Nuncio Guiseppe Leanza yesterday.

It comes as the Government issues its response to the findings of the Cloyne report, by publishing the “Childrens First” guidelines later today.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter told breakfast the new guidelines mean that state bodies and voluntary organisations will have a legal duty to take certain steps if they believe children are at risk.
