What’s going on with that statement from the people who run the Irish college in Gaoth Dobhair? Do they think we’re complete idiots?

Donal O Loinsigh, joint boss of Colaiste Cholmcille, says Michael Ferry the rapist did not have employers, because he was not employed. You’d have to wonder, in the week when a storm has engulfed the country after the Cloyne report, if this character reads the papers at all.

Read my lips, Donal. A man doesn’t need a contract to be employed. He doesn’t even need to be paid. He just has to carry out work for someone, as Mickey Ferry did in your school after he was convicted for raping children.

Not only that, but the management of the school were aware that Ferry was a rapist and still allowed him to work there.

What kind of thundering gobshites are we dealing with here at all? Do Donal O Loinsigh or his business partners have the slightest understanding of what child protection means?

Who wrote their statement — Bishop Magee?

It doesn’t take Einstein to figure out that you shouldn’t allow a child-rapist anywhere near a school.

It’s very simple:

Rapist?

Out the door.

The end.

That’s not a complicated thing to understand and yet the people who run this particular Gaelscoil business either fail to grasp it or else don’t care.

They’d do well to give it deeper consideration. Would you put your children in the care of people who don’t know that rapists have to be barred from schools?

Should I even have to explain this?
