A Superior Court judge has sealed the arrest warrant for a Berlin priest facing obscenity charges.

The New Britain Herald reports that prosecutor Christian Watson asked for the file to be sealed, arguing in court Tuesday that releasing it to the public could jeopardize the public safety of witnesses.

The Rev. Michael Miller, a 41-year-old Franciscan friar who has served as a priest at St. Paul's Church in Berlin for five years, was arrested on July 12 and charged with five counts of risk of injury to a child and one count of attempted obscenity.

Miller is free on bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 8. His attorney, William St. John, declined to comment on the charges, but said that Miller is a valued member of the church.
