The Vatican's Formal Response to Government Concerns over the Cloyne Report Is Expected by the End of Next Month - in Line with a Government Request

The Papal Nuncio to Ireland Archbishop Giuseppe Leanza, who was recalled to the Vatican earlier this week is due to return to present the response.

Earlier this week the Vatican recalled its representative to Ireland for consultations on the Cloyne Report and it's certain that this will be one of Leanza's last actions before he is transferred to the Czech Republic.

Tainiste Eamon Gilmore had requested that the Holy See to respond by the end of August and a spokesman for his department today welcomed the move.
