AN Atlanta-based man reportedly raised in the Bahamas has emerged as the fifth accuser in the sex scandal surrounding American religious leader Bishop Eddie Long, according to news reports in the US.

Fox 5, out of Atlanta, reported that a seven week investigation led them to a 22-year-old aspiring male singer said to be at the centre of the gay sex scandal. The news station claimed that while the singer never filed a lawsuit against Bishop Long, he was involved in settlement talks stemming from allegations of sexual misconduct by the well-known bishop.

The news station reported that the young man met the bishop years ago when he visited his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta while a college student in Florida. The report also claims that the young Bahamian man has a tattoo of the bishop's name inked on his wrist.

When the station tracked down the singer, he had no comment on Mr Long, Fox 5 reported.

Last September four young men, all former members of New Birth church, sued Mr Long accusing the bishop of lavishing money, trips and gifts on the young men, while having sexual relations with them.

Mr Long publicly denied the allegations. Earlier this year the matter was settled out of court and the lawsuits against the pastor were dropped.
