TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Lawyers for an Ohio Roman Catholic priest found guilty of killing a nun are claiming in a legal brief that recently discovered police reports would have allowed the defense to point toward another suspect.

The Blade of Toledo reports (http://bit.ly/o1msjk ) the brief filed this week represents the closing argument for attorneys trying to overturn the Rev. Gerald Robinson's 2006 conviction. The

defense made similar claims during a hearing on Robinson's appeal held in May.

The priest's attorneys believe his constitutional right to a fair trial was violated in part because of the discovery of 136 police reports three years after he was convicted.

Prosecutors maintain that evidence is overwhelming that Robinson killed Sister Margaret Ann Pahl in 1980 at the Toledo hospital where they both worked.
