A former bishop of the Diocese of Antigonish is expected to return to an Ottawa courtroom Thursday.

Raymond Lahey, 71, pleaded guilty to importing child pornography in May; he waived bail and went to jail immediately.

He's still in custody.

Lahey still faces a possession charge, but that's expected to be formally withdrawn as part of his plea deal when he's sentenced.

His sentencing hearing resumes with a final day of submissions; it was postponed in June.

The crown was waiting for a file from the psychiatrist who examined Lahey, and assessed his sexual behaviour.

Police charged Lahey shortly after border officials seized his laptop at the Ottawa airport in Sept. 2009; he resigned as Antigonish bishop shortly after.
