A WOMAN who claims that she was abused at an industrial school has lost her bid to challenge the Redress Institution Board's refusal to allow her to claim compensation.

The woman, now aged 41 and who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has intellectual difficulties, a court heard. She was sent to the school in 1977.

She sought compensation under the scheme in 2009 -- almost four years after the time limit had expired. The board refused to allow her to extend the time period and this decision was upheld by the High Court yesterday.
