A Winter Springs High School teacher and pastor of a Baptist church was arrested Wednesday on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child.
Jimmie Blake, 47, who's the pastor of the Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church in Midway, is accused of molesting a child 12 to 15 years old, according to Sanford police.
According to a Sanford police report, officers were contacted in February and were told that the sexual abuse happened from 1998 to 2002. The abuse occurred at a Sanford home and Lyman High School, where Blake worked as a teacher's assistant, the alleged victim told police.
Blake threatened to kill the child if he told anyone about the incidents, the police report stated.
According to police, the alleged victim said he decided to come forward after learning that Blake was sexually abusing someone else.
Winter Springs High School's website listed Blake under its exceptional education section. He was suspended with pay Thursday morning pending the outcome of the investigation.
School officials said Blake has been a teacher for 20 years and spent five years teaching at Winter Springs High School.
Blake was released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
