The Catholic Church in Ireland has been rocked by sex abuse allegations in recent years - and more damaging still - claims that much of that abuse was covered up.

Last month Enda Kenny the Irish Prime Minister, or Taoiseach, took the unprecedented step of accusing the Vatican of downplaying the rape of children to protect its power and reputation.

But has this led to a change in attitude towards the Church among ordinary people? BBC Newsline's Andy Martin has been to the west of Ireland to investigate.
