A federal judge has ordered two high-ranking members of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to testify in the bankruptcy case against the archdiocese.

Retired Archbishop Rembert Weakland and retired Auxiliary Bishop Richard Sklba will have to testify about what they knew about sex crimes against children by priests.

"As the judge put it, these depositions are about who knew what when. This is the first time these bishops under oath are going to have to answer comprehensive and complete questions about exactly what they knew," said Peter Isely, of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.

The archdiocese filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January after abuse victims rejected a $4.6 million mediated settlement offer.
