Clinton police said they are investigating claims made by a man against a former minister, who earlier this month admitted to having sexual indiscretions with teen boys 20 years ago.

The man, who is currently living out of state, has made accusations of sexual abuse against John Langworthy, Clinton Police Chief Don Byington said. The man said the incident happened about 20 years ago in the Clinton area when he was 10 or 12-years-old, Detective Josh Frazier said. The man will be interviewed by investigators in the coming week, police said.

Langworthy resigned in May from his job as associate music pastor at Morrison Heights Baptist Church. Earlier this month, Langworthy told the congregation that 22 years ago, while serving at a church in Mississippi and one in Texas, he had "sexual indiscretions with younger males."

No charges were filed in Texas or in Mississippi. Byington said the Clinton Police Department is investigating the current claim.

Langworthy had also worked for Clinton Public Schools as choir director of the high school. The school district said it learned of the Texas allegations in August 2010. Langworthy resigned at the end of the 2011 school year, the district said.

Langworthy did not return calls from 16 WAPT News on Monday.
