Judge Dan Shaban has denied St. Francis hospital's motion to set aside the jury's July 8 verdict in favor of plaintiff Tim Doe 1, and has also denied the defendant's request to reduce the amount of damages. You can read the verdict here:

Read, in particular, this from Judge Shaban:

...it cannot be said that the jury's verdict shocks the court's sense of justice.
Tim Doe 1 (a pseudonym) was a former patient of George Reardon, St. Francis' former chief of endocrinology who over the course of decades used a bogus growth study to lure countless children and adolescents into his hospital office, where he sexual abused and exploited them. Roughly 60 cases remain to be tried against the hospital.

Said Timothy L. O'Keefe, whose Hartford law office Kenny, O'Keefe, and Usseglio, represents some 40 plaintiffs: "The jury has been found, in a court of law, to have been negligent in connection with a failure to properly monitor medical research in its facility. We are fully prepared to prove that again and again for each and every one of the people that we represent in this matter."

Reardon died in '98; a collection of pornographic photos and slides he took of his young patients was found in the walls of his former West Hartford home in 2007.
