|Retired Priest Accused of Molesting Boys
September 16, 2011
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.—A retired priest who taught at a Southern California high school for 24 years may have sexually abused students.
The Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino sent e-mails and letters this week to 1,600 former students at Aquinas High School saying the Rev. Robert Donat may have molested a boy at the diocesan-run school.
A telephone number for Donat, who taught at Aquinas from 1969 to 1993, cannot be found.
Attorney Rebecca Rhoades tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise ( http://bit.ly/r3mfXE) that at least five men have contacted her Newport Beach law firm alleging they were abused by Donat while they were Aquinas students.
After leaving Aquinas, Donat was pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Montclair until 2006. Parishioners there were notified of the allegations during Masses last weekend.
