Cheater

Rogers County authorities arrested a Tulsa-area youth minister charged with rape and molestation Friday.

Joe Cheater Jr., 39, was charged in five felony cases filed in Rogers County on Friday, court records show.

Cheater has been a youth minister for several churches, some in and around Catoosa, said Rogers County Sheriff Roger Walton.

Cheater faces four counts of first-degree rape in two cases for assaults alleged to have happened beginning in January 2006, court filings show. He's also charged with four counts of lewd acts to a child for incidents between January and March 2008, as well as lewd molestation.

The alleged victims in the cases are girls between the ages of 9 and 14, Walton said.

"Our concern is that there may be more victims we're not aware of yet," he said.

Cheater was arrested Friday afternoon, Walton said.

Walton credits the arrest to a joint effort between the Rogers County Sheriff's Office and investigator Gary Stansill with the Rogers County District Attorney's Office.
