Dear Parishioners,

Fr Laurence Soper

Many of you will have read news reports concerning my predecessor as abbot, Fr Laurence. Accusations have been made against him concerning offences against children. Early in March he left the monastery in Rome where he had been living to travel to London for an appointment with the police. Unfortunately he failed to keep that appointment and we have heard nothing from him since and all efforts to contact him have been without success. On previous occasions he had returned by arrangement to meet with the police and he was trusted to do so. I cannot comment on the details of the police investigation but I must condemn without reservation his failure to co-operate with them.

I have not made any statement about this before at the request of the police.

Please keep in your prayers all those who have been hurt by what Fr Laurence has done.

Abbot Martin

Welcome to the Parish Website of St Benedict's Parish, Ealing Abbey

The Roman Catholic Parish of St Benedict, Ealing, is under the care of Ealing Abbey, a Benedictine Monastery of the English Benedictine Congregation. We are a large and vibrant Christian community. It is our mission to offer fitting praise to God in Christ and to spread his Good News in all that we say and do. We hope that everyone who comes to share in our parish life and worship feels welcome, valued and needed. We are very blessed to be able to use the beautiful Abbey Church as our parish church. The parish is served by monks designated by the Abbot of Ealing. The monastery is alongside the Abbey Church and parishioners join in with the Conventual Masses and the Divine office. Our Benedictine identity is very important to us as a parish. Ealing Abbey is in the diocese of Westminster in the suburbs of West London about ten minutes walk from Ealing Broadway.

This is the official website for the Parish and here you can find a great deal of information regarding the rich variety of liturgy celebrated at the Abbey, forthcoming parish events, local parish organisations as well as general resources regarding Catholicism.

The Parish Office is part of the Parish Centre alongside the Abbey Church. The address is 2 Marchwood Crescent, W5 2DZ. The parish centre and the church can also be accessed from a slip-road for pedestrians and disabled drivers on Montpelier Avenue.
