MERIDEN — Police are searching for a former minister of a church in Wallingford who is suspected of raping a 12-year-old girl.
Juan Mayorga, 40, faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
Mayorga was a minister at Tercera Alpha Y Omega at 105 S. Cherry St. He may be Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia or Florida, police said.
Police were alerted in May that the girl had been assaulted on more than one occasion, said Det. Sgt. Robert Nesci.
Mayorga is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5-foot-11.
