Meriden police are looking for Juan Mayorga.

Meriden police are searching for a former minister accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

Juan Mayorga, 40, was a minister at Tercera Alpha Y Omega church, on Cherry Street in Wallingford. He is wanted for first-degree and third-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Police said the sexual assault happened in Meriden and it was not affiliated with the Wallingford church.

The former minister could be in Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia or Florida, police said.

Mayorga is originally from Nicaragua and has family in the Meriden area, but they have not helped police find him, police said.

Police fear that, since Mayorga claims to be a minister, he could be somewhere, preying upon members of a congregation.

Mayorga is 5-feet, 11, 190 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with info is asked to call Detective Jose Rivera at 203-630-6265
