The mother of Cedric Tornay, the young Swiss Guard who killed Commander Alois Estermann and his spouse, in the Vatican, in 1998, and then committed suicide, has written to Pope Benedict XVI to request that the Pope give her the dossier on her son’s death.

The news was given by the woman’s lawyer, in an interview that was broadcast on Swiss television network TSR, before a document about the tragic event was released. In April 2002, Muguette Baudat, Cedric Tornay’s mother, had already asked John Paul II for some parts of the dossier (1978-2005), but with no success.

Her lawyer, Luc Brossollet, stated that the dossier was “closed too hastily, at the end of a botched inquiry,” and once again condemned the errors of an investigation led by alleged “experts” of the Holy See, “who were in fact not experts at all.”

According to the lawyer, the autopsy carried out on the young man, in Lausanne, shows that his head was actually tilted backwards when he died, while the Vatican’s report affirms the exact opposite. According to the lawyer, “the official theory, the reconstruction of the scene of Cedric Tornay’s death, is false.”
