San Antonio police have reportedly launched a preliminary inquiry into whether former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky should face child sex assault charges in Texas.

The grand jury report released this week detailed alleged sexual assaults of eight boys from The Second Mile, a charity Sandusky founded to help troubled boys. In the report, one victim reveals an alleged incident in San Antonio.

Victim 4 was listed along with Sandusky's wife as a member of Sandusky's family party for the 1999 Alamo Bowl. Victim 4, now age 27, told the grand jury Sandusky threatened to send him home from the Alamo Bowl when he resisted the coach's sexual advances.

"We are investigating the possibility that an offense may have happened while here in San Antonio," San Antonio police Sgt. Chris Benavides said in a statement to WOAI-AM News.

"Obviously, in something like this, when [District Attorney Susan] Reed heard about it, she and the police chief were very concerned about it. We are going to taking what action we can to see if a case can be built," Bexar County First Assistant District Attorney Cliff Herberg told WOAI.

The district attorney's office said any investigation would be an uphill battle because the alleged incident was in 1999.

"All we have is an allegation contained in a an indictment from another jurisdiction. We have no evidence, no complainant yet," Herberg told WOAI-AM. "It's a preliminary inquiry."

On Saturday, Sandusky was charged with 40 counts of child sex abuse.

On Wednesday night, the Penn State Board of Trustees unanimous voted to fire Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno and school president Graham Spanier for their role in the scandal that has rocked the university.
