LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The charges and the fallout at Penn State may bring up thoughts of the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal.

Colleen Powell, founder of the Louisville Chapter of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said bringing the abuse to light will help victims come forward and begin to do the healing work that needs to be done. It is also a reminder for those who may have seen something inappropriate or be suspicious.

"If you see something, say something," said Powell. "And if the, where you first tell it doesn't resolve things and get help for the children that are being abused. Go tell somebody else and somebody else and somebody else."

Powell hopes the allegations at Penn State will open up people's eyes to the problem.
