Bangor - Prior to learning of the state police investigation into Rev. Robert Carlson, board members at Penobscot Community Health Care, which Carlson helped found, reflected on their coworker and friend.

They described Carlson as a man dedicated to helping others, and say his work for the local health care system has helped thousands.

CEO Kenneth Schmidt says he would be surprised to learn of any investigation into his friend.

"This is the first actually I've heard of anything like that. I know of no reason there should be. He's never spoken of anything to me I was a close personal friend as was Dr. Allen. There were no issues for that matter at PCHC whatsoever. Reverend Bob was a man of enormous integrity and caring I think that's how all of us will remember him no matter if anything else comes up."

Schmidt says he hopes Carlson will be remembered for his great legacy of community service.
