A man charged with numerous felony sex crimes against children in Monroe County is also listed under an organization of Christian homes open to adopting children.

David Billman, of Wingett Run, which is about 30 miles south of Woodsfield, was indicted by a Monroe County grand jury.

Billman is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape and eight counts of gross sexual imposition. Officials said the case involves children but did not give their ages.

NEWS9 found an online biography about Billman which said he was a family man and had children of his own.

He and his wife are listed under a national organization for Christian homes open to adopting children. According to their online posting, which has since been removed, the Billmans have been looking to adopt more children since 2008. The couple currently has eight children.

NEWS9 researched the organization and learned it takes a special interest in unborn children who have been identified as possibly having special needs. Rather than having an abortion, the birth mother is encouraged to give up the child for adoption to families who are looking for children.

The organization that the family is tied to is not releasing any official comment on the accusations against Billman. NEWS9 called the Billman home, but no one would comment.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested Billman, but he is in the Noble County jail because the charges are felonies.
