( FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Nearly 10 years after the peak of the Catholic Church sex abuse cases, leaders of the faith are still trying to rebuild trust within the community and transform the image of the culture; however, a new list of clergy offenders released by the church has some upset because not all of the names were included.

Cardinal Sean O'Malley from the Archdiocese of Boston was initially praised for publishing the names of the clergy members who were accused of sexual abuse, but a recent article on The Boston Globe says critics do not agree with O'Malley's decision to not include the names of 70 accused clerics.

One of the names omitted from the list was Robert Burns who pleaded guilty to raping and sexually assaulting five boys while serving as a parish priest in Boston for nearly a decade.

O'Malley said he chose not to include Burns or the other 69 offending clergy members because they came to Boston from other parishes and are ultimately supervised by other church officials, the paper said.

The church released a statement in part saying O'Malley has made it a priority to create safe environments in the Archdiocese's churches and schools to continue to support all people impacted by clergy sexual abuse.

Critics of the church find it disheartening that the church continues to ignore its troubled past.

The list surfaces during the same month a grand jury indicted former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky on 40 counts of sex crimes against young boys.
