One of two new sexual abuse allegations raised this week in the wake of charges against former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky involves a member of his family, his attorney told The Patriot-News.

Jerry Sandusky has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse involving eight young boys after a three-year investigaton by a grand jury.

Sandusky has stated that he is innocent of the charges.

Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, told Patriot-News reporter Sara Ganim that one of the two new allegations stems from difficulties within the child's immediate family.

The two new cases are being investigated by Children and Youth Services. The Harrisburg newspaper says the new allegations were reported less than two months ago. They are in the early stages of investigation.

The Patriot-News says it is withholding the child's relationship to Sandusky to protect the child's identity.

The allegations found in the grand jury indictment involve young men who are over 18 who claim the assaults occurred when some were much younger.

If the latest allegations prove credible, they would be the first involving a person who is still a child, the newspaper says.
