Three new reports will be published on child abuse in the Church

Two Northern Ireland Catholic dioceses will publish major reports on child abuse in the Church, reported the BBC.

The Diocese of Raphoe in Donegal, where priest Eugene Greene abused more than 20 boys, is publishing a highly-anticipated report next week. However, the dioceses of Derry and Dromore are also publishing separate reviews on child welfare.

The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church, which helps to protect children in the Church from being abused, conducted all three reports. The board is now reviewing every diocese in the country.

The reviews could go back as far as 1975 and provide details of how the dioceses have dealt with child abuse since the mid-1970s and how they deal with it now. If the current child protection procedures are inadequate, the dioceses will be told.
