A priest is sitting in the Sacramento Jail Thursday, facing two felony counts of lewd acts with a child.

Father Uriel Ojeda turned himself in Wednesday night to Sacramento Police.

Bishop Jaime Soto, the head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento says it was the Diocese who originally received the complaint against Father Ojeda on Tuesday. They then reported it to Sacramento County Child Protective Services and police.

“I grieve for what they have suffered, and what they are suffering, and I also admire their courage to come forward,” said Bishop Soto. He also encouraged anyone who may have been a victim of Father Ojeda to report the abuse to Sacramento Police.

According to the Diocese, Father Ojeda was ordained in 2007, he was most recently at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Redding, and before that served at Holy Rosary Parish in Woodland.

Father Ojeda is being held on a $5 Million bail, and will be arraigned on December 2nd.
