A local preacher has been arrested for multiple sex offenses.

Thomas Archie Wiggins Jr., 54, was charged Tuesday for crimes that took place back in 1998, according to Sgt. Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the allegations come from a boy who was 14 at the time.

Wiggins was reportedly charged with five counts of first degree sex offenses and five counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

According to a court clerk, there are three sets of similar charges which indicate three separate victims.

He was released Tuesday evening from the New Hanover County Detention Facility after posting bail. He was under a $100,000 secured bond as of 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wiggins is listed as the preacher and superintendent at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 1119 S. Fourth Street in Wilmington.

He is expected in court Wednesday afternoon.
