[Bishop Rhodes letter to parishioners]
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne South Bend Diocese has removed a local priest from his parish after allegations of sexual abuse.
Tuesday, Bishop Kevin Rhoades, removed Father Thom Lombardi from his ministry as pastor of Saint Joseph Hessen Castle while an investigation is being conducted.
According to a letter from the Bishop to Saint Joseph Parishioners, the diocese was notified of the allegations which allegedly took place back in 1997 at some other parish.
At this time, the diocese is not commenting on which parish the incident happened at or any information about the victim.
The Allen County Sheriff’s department is aware of the matter and will investigate the allegations.
The diocese is also asking anyone who might have information that may help the investigation to come forward.
