KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – On Monday a former pastor pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct charges in a Kent County courtroom.

Pastor Tedd Butler is the former pastor at the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walker. Prosecutors say he inappropriately touched a young boy about two decades ago while with a different church. Butler is also facing similar charges in Ottawa County.

On Monday Butler pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, and as part of a plea deal, the prosecution dropped a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge.

After he entered the plea, the judge informed Butler that the maximum potential sentence for fourth-degree CSC is two years in jail and a $500 fine.

Butler told the court that the sexual abuse happened between January 1984 and December of 1992, adding that the victim was less that thirteen years old at the time and he was more than five years older than the victim.

Butler is scheduled to be sentenced in Kent County on January 31st, and he's also facing second-degree CSC charges in Ottawa County, where Butler is expected to enter a plea on Tuesday.

Butler's bond will be revoked after he enters that plea. Another stipulation of the agreement is that the punishment he receives in Kent County cannot exceed the one handed down in Ottawa County.
