Pastor Tedd Butler

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Pastor Tedd Butler was back in court today in Ottawa County to make another plea on sexual abuse charges.

This is a two part plea deal, one in Kent County and another in Ottawa County.

Butler led the congregation at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walker. The abuse happened at a different church between the late 80s and early 90s.

Monday Butler pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Grand Rapids court. The prosecution dropped a first-degree CSC charge as a part of the plea deal.

Today Butler was in court in Grand Haven where he pleaded guilty to a second degree CSC charge and admitted to touching someone under the age of 13 on the genitals. The incident happened between 2008 and 2010.

One of the stipulations of this plea agreement is the punishment in Kent County cannot exceed the one handed down in Ottawa County. The possible penalty in Kent County is up to two years in jail.

Butler will be sentenced in Grand Haven on January 23rd. He faces up to 15 years in prison for that case.
