A St. Paul priest convicted of sexual abuse was sentenced Wednesday.

Christopher Wenthe, 46, was convicted of third degree criminal sexual conduct last month. Prosecutors say he repeatedly abused his position and violated the law by abusing a woman who went to him for religious counsel and spiritual advice.

Wenthe was sentenced to serve one year in the work house, 15 years probation, pay a $30,000 fine, and he must register as a sex-offender. He also received a stayed prison sentence of 4 years and 9 months and was ordered to pay up to $90,000 in restitution for the cost of the victim's medical treatment.

Court records show the incidents happened between 2003 and 2005 while the victim was a member at St. Paul's Nativity Church.
