The final part of the Cloyne Report has been published, again detailing the failure of the Catholic Church to report alleged child abuse.

The section published today concerns allegations surrounding a priest known as 'Father Ronat', and how these complaints were not dealt with properly from 1995 to 2008 by Bishop Magee, Monsignor O'Callaghan and at least three priests.

Chapter nine of the Cloyne Report highlights how "Ronat" was allowed continue in unrestricted ministry for around a decade.

The High Court cleared the way last week for this portion of the report to be published.

The Justice Minister Alan Shatter said the publication of redacted portions of the Cloyne Report detailed the Catholic Church's failure to comply with its own child abuse guidelines.

His comments come after the remaining part of Chapter nine of the report into clerical child abuse was released by the Government this evening.

Minister Shatter said the section published today also highlighted the Church's failure to ensure that abuse allegations were brought to the notice of the Gardai when first received.

Children's Minister Francis Fitzgerald said the report showed how those operating in the Diocese of Cloyne were only interested in protecting the Church.

"This report highlights complainants' concerns up to 2008. The Church's guidelines were in place. The State's guidelines were in place, and you still did not see the kind of best practice that should have been there in relation to protecting children," she said.
